Mail Hiccups

"You're as old as you behave."

_dorer_2It’s hard to believe that December is here and 2013 is just around the corner.  Where did the year go?  Didn’t we just ring in 2012?  There was a time when time seemed to crawl.  Now it seems to run.

Christmas is just around the corner.  Some people have already finished their Christmas shopping.  We have a good start on ours but we still have several visits to the stores ahead of us.  One thing we did accomplish was making a trip to FedEx and getting a couple boxes mailed.  Even though they’re going where we’re going, by shipping them ahead we don’t have to worry about the airlines losing checked luggage again.

We don’t have Christmas lights up but other people do.  We strolled around Terry’s mother’s neighborhood and checked out the lights.  His mother was in the process of setting out her Christmas display _dorer_3and wanted to see what her competition was.

Thursday was a trip to Elephant Bar Restaurant.  We both really like that place.  I’ve had the same thing both times we’ve gone.  The servers were exceptional at each visit.

We had a hiccup in our license renewal.  Being on the road we never know what hiccup to expect next.  They seem to come regularly though.  Picking up our mail yesterday I expected to see new license tags I’d renewed about a month ago.  instead …… it was my check being returned because the county treasurer doesn’t accept checks with an out-of-state address printed on it.  Now the bank is local since it’s nationwide.  It was the address they didn’t like.  Golly, I haven’t ordered new checks in five years.  We rarely use checks anymore and still working on the old batch.  The checks are good so we just cross out the address for the very rare ones we write. The good _dorer_6thing is that there is a 15-day grace period on the licenses.  Now if there’s not a hiccup in the mail, they will have a cashier’s check in their hands on Monday.  I called about giving a credit card number instead but was told it was processed faster with a check.

The next little hiccup that came about this morning was from our Washington storage shed.  The credit card used to pay for that storage expired the 1st of November.  Did I follow through?  Yes … I did by sending an email with a head’s up about the expiration date.  I also sent the new one.  They normally charge our account on the 23rd or 24th of the month.  However, no charge came through in November.  It’s just another problem we need to solve today.  I don’t know about you but I really don’t like problems.
