Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.
Once a year Sabrina is in charge of her church’s annual picnic event and every year we plan to attend. This last weekend was the picnic. It was a gorgeous day and a wonderful event. We also got an unexpected relief from the temperatures that had been hovering between 90 and 100. Instead a cloud cover moved in early but blew away to an absolutely gorgeous day in the low 80’s.
Sabrina and Lee arrived early to help set up the event. Tammi provided the pop-up canopy right at the lake’s edge. We needed something to provide so we provided the empty stomachs. How’s that for team work? We all pitched in to make this day together a great one and it was.
I have never seen as much road construction as we’ve seen lately. Your tax dollars are really out there working. They’ve especially been working on a 3 1/2 mile road we take to our little place. We never thought the road was in bad condition but it must have been or they wouldn’t have decided to tear it up and repave it. It’s not much of a road and it’s way out in the boonies. The construction crew has tied this up for a couple weeks now with long delays. It’s not been fun.
We’re hoping they finish up with the road soon because every car around needs a real good bath. Besides … all the delays have been rather annoying.
This is the latest unfinished project we have around here. It’s a deer feeder. We have to get shingles yet and fix a roof for it. However, we’ve been able to keep the deer out of the yard and not have to pooper-scoop behind them now that the food is closer to the road.
Do you see the twins on the left side of the picture? They kind of blend in.
Check this out. This is the new toy I want. Well, I don’t want one of the new ones because they are bigger. It's the 2008 Polaris RZR that I'm interested in. The 2009 model is 10” wider than the 2008 and the years after are even bigger. I also want a red one but I’ve learned in life I don’t always get everything I want.
Justin will be flying in this weekend. We’re all looking forward to having him around. I offered to provide tickets for his flight but then so did his Aunt Tammi. Tammi’s offer was better than mine. Her tickets were confirmed …. mine were standby tickets. He’ll be home on leave for a week before he heads back to Norfolk. Terry is in Arizona. He would be sick if he missed Justin but sometimes we just aren't able to control our own schedules.

‘Tis life on the road.
Man, I thought I was going blind. The twins are on our left. So cute, we have some in our park too.
ReplyDeleteI see the twins...too cute.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful it is going to be to see Justin! Give him a BIG thank you from us and throw in a hug!
Bringing the empty stomachs works for me.
ReplyDeleteI would have missed the twins if you hadn't pointed them out.
Have a wonderful time with Justin. I'm getting tired of schedules. Seems that's how we've been living our lives this summer - but they are mostly Jim's. Montana is nothing but road construction and most of it seems to be on two lane back roads also.
ReplyDeleteThat RZR has your name on it, I can just see you tearing around Quartzsite in it, driving up and down the aisles in the Big Tent. ;c)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with Justin, it's great he got leave and airline tickets. Give him a pat of thanks on the back from us for his serving our country.
Ah more food, church picnics are always fun functions with a great variety of food.
ReplyDeleteThat RZR sure would be a lots of fun in The arizona desert and even put in the sand dunes. Yep sure think you need one.
There you are involved in food again!! The RZR is what we are looking at also, we have to get a truck first and then we'll see. Have a great time with Justin tell him Hi for us. Get that boy some Crabs while he's home!!
