Packing RVs in

Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you, but not in one ahead.

I try to blog every other day.  That’s the plan.  However, when I checked last night I couldn’t believe the time had gone by and it was time to post another one.  Golly when you’re so busy it is really hard to keep up.  We’ve been really busy.  Really … we’ve been busy.

First of all we needed to hang around to play escort to the new rigs coming in.  So, I hung around.  Joe and Margarite arrived just as planned.  Next we welcomed Sue and Paul.  Right behind them came Dave and Nancy.  We’re not done yet.  We have about six more we’re expecting to pull in over the next few days.  While some are coming in there are also some that are going out.  We’re going to have to get a little creative with parking though.  We can do it but we just need to be creative.  The campfire ring is definitely growing.

Monday was a pretty breezy day.  It was so  breezy in fact that Terry and I had trouble putting down the awning.   I guess that’s what happens when you wait until the winds get stronger to do what you should have done hours before.

Since we are boondocking we have been using propane for the hot water heater,  stove, refrigerator and the new blue flame heater.  Our supply of propane in the motorhome propane was going down.   We didn't have an auxiliary tank to switch over to when our supply got low.  Without an extra tank we knew we would need to close up the motorhome and drive to town to fill up with propane.  With a little bit of work and little bit more money, we now have that auxiliary tank.  This is another thing we should have added a long time ago.

A trip to the RV Pit Stop was required.  This place can get pretty busy this time of year.  RVs pack the place dumping their tanks, filling up with water and propane before they head back out to dry camp.  We were there just be outfitted with a new tank and all the accessories and were thankful we didn’t need to get in any lines.    The rest was left to Terry to connect the new bottle and fittings to the main tank.  That he did and now all we need to do is load the secondary tank in the car and have it filled without driving the motorhome to town.  Yippee!

Silly Al’s was the hotspot for dinner Monday night.  Seating a group in Quartzsite can at times be pretty difficult.  There are many groups.  If more than a couple of these end up planning an outing at the same restaurant you do, you may be sitting at different tables all over the place.  As it worked out, Ed and Lyn showed up early and put our name in.  We had a wait but it wasn’t bad.  It was a great evening with some pretty great people.

And, as usual the wind died down so we could finish the day around the campfire.

This morning we have a special treat in store.  A real personal chef will be arriving to prepare breakfast for us.  She will be delivering it and serving us shortly.   What a treat!  More to come on that one!

‘Tis life on the road.

  1. I guess I didn't know y'all were going to boondock for such a long time. We would probably need another propane tank also or go wait in the long line to fill up.
Your numbers ARE sure growing. Enjoy that delicious, special breakfast...sounds YUMMMMMMMY!

  2. Looks like so much fun! Good idea to get a separate propane tank - that'll be lots easier! Good tease about the personal chef - I'm looking forward to hearing about that. :)

  3. Does personal chef mean you get to choose what you'll eat? We went to Perkins for breakfast today and I special ordered my omelet which then makes enough for two meals so I get to eat the other half tomorrow. I love have a tasty breakfast that just needs to be nuked for a minute. Especially on WW meeting day when I'm always in a rush because I sleep too late.

  4. We've been thinking of adding the extra propane fitting and getting another extra tank, but we're so loaded up, can't think of any place we can store it when we travel.

Hope there is some firewood left for when we get there...
