What Day Is It?

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."

I woke up this morning wondering what day it was?  Was it Thursday or was it Friday?  Sometimes my days go that way.  It’s not that they are extremely busy or extremely slow.  I just don’t keep track of the dates or even the days so much anymore.  My thought is why should I?

Chefs at Arizona Casino buffet --

Then, I remembered.  After all, we had spent the day before at the Arizona Casino in Tempe shoving big bucks into those slot machines with Terry’s mom.  She loves going there so we pick her up and take her.  The hard part isn’t getting her into the casino.  It’s getting her out.   Needless to say, the machines kept the money and returned very little.  That casino is about the tightest one we have ever been to.  We’re trying  to convince Terry’s mother that there are others to go to.

Yesterday we took off to the little town of Casa Grande to finish up a little Christmas shopping.  We really don’t have much to do.  We’ve already bought some of the little filler gifts but still need to come up with a couple nice things for the kids.  We weren’t very successful but did more than we liked in looking.  People were everywhere.  The streets were packed with traffic.  Getting around was a pretty slow thing.

When we left the park the sun was shining and the wind was calm. That didn’t last forever.  By early afternoon the clouds started coming in and the wind started blowing.  We figured it was time to head back.

The normally gorgeous blue skies had filled up with dark clouds.  Some pretty good gusts of wind were stirring up the dust and tipping the trees.  This was an Arizona winter storm.  The difference with the wintery storms in Arizona and the wintery storms in North Dakota is that one brings snow and other rarely does.  We are glad we’re in a place not likely to see much of that white stuff.

Yesterday we had another dinner get together.  It was so yucky out that we ate inside at Toni’s RV.  There were six of us and she had us all seated comfortably around her table enjoying a wonderful spaghetti feed.

Setting for dinner for 6 – there is room!  ------

During the night the rain started pounding on the roof.  It’s amazing how heavy those rain drops sound on the top of a motorhome.  The wind blew and the rains continued to pelt us.  As I’m looking out the windows this morning, I’m thinking today is going to be wet and cold.  The good thing is that once this storm passes, the motorhome will be cleaner outside and the temperatures will return to the 70’s.

What are we doing today?  Well, I’ve been doing a little sewing, Terry’s been playing WOW and Duchess has been doing what she does best too.  We might just do more of the same .... or, we might not.  It's too early to tell right now.

In a few more days I’ll be heading to Washington and then a few days after that so will Terry.  Once there I’ll finish up the Christmas shopping, wrap the stuff we’ve already d14__1shipped and get ready for the best time of year …. that’s the time all the family gets together … all ten of us!  Even Justin will be there.  Having all ten of us together is the best Christmas present of all!

‘Tis life on the road.

  1. I never know what day it is either. Something about being retired does that, I think.

I was very impressed with Toni being able to seat all of us at a table inside her RV. Mine seats one.

  3. We actually have sunshine right at the moment but we sure got hit with rain last night. We have found that it is much quieter in the fifth wheel then it was in the motorhome when it rains. Have a wonderful time with your family. After the shooting this morning, it makes us realize how very very important it is to let our family know we love them every ay.
