The Road To Where ?

The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see.

We have a couple friends who title their blogs with a teaser.  The teaser is more like a guessing game.  The reader’s job is to guess where they are.  So this blog’s title of Just Wanderin is kind of like that as we’re currently just wandering but not where we intended to travel.  It's definitely not wondering but wandering.

Every once in a while everyone needs a vacation.  We all need to wander.  Sometimes we even need a vacation from a vacation.  Last week we had decided we were going to take two.  We even knew where we were going to go and when we would get there.  One trip we had planned was to spend Terry's birthday in his hometown of Hannibal, Missouri. He had been wanting to go back for some time.  We had another adventure planned two weeks later and then the big move in the motorhome south.  However, as most RVers know things don't always work out as planned.  This was just another time we proved that was true.

Terry ended up getting the call his father had died about 1:30 AM Tuesday morning.  By 6:30 AM he was on a flight to Phoenix.  I think that's pretty good speed.  This wasn't the planned trip but it wasn't really unexpected either.  He knew it would be coming soon.

Later that day vacation car rentals, hotels and flights were cancelled.  New reservations were made in their place but it wasn't for the vacation.  It was for travel to Phoenix instead.  Terry is now there.  I'll head out today.

Itinerary changes seem to be a way of life for us.  We are so used to writing our plans in chalk that we almost always have our little eraser handy.  In life there are many changes and with our lifestyle we have especially learned flexibility is a must.  There are some things we have no control over.  This was one of those.  We adjust.

'Tis life on the road or this time .. is it in the air?

  2. Sorry for your loss. Change of plans are a constant in life, it seems. Life comes at us fast, and it's not scripted. The ability to make changes in our plans without anxiety and regret is a great thing. Looking forward to your further life events. Thanks again for sharing.

  3. Again, sorry to hear about Terry's dad passing. Thankfully you can change plans when you need to, although this time, the reason is so sad.

We'll keep you both in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

  7. Plans do change constantly with this lifestyle. For us we spend 6 months in Canada on holidays moving about, then 6 months in the winter on vacation, following the sun.
